K & T play hard both in & outside, but there is some down time too. K has lead the way to one of their newest favorite activities. She grabs a pillow and blanket, along with a pile of books and starts to 'read' to herself. She mostly talks about what she sees on the pages, but this is an important step for a pre-reader! Occasionally Baby, her doll, is lying beside her, or is cuddled up into her lap and K is reading to her. It's adorable.
Since we still are living by the 'Monkey See, Monkey Do' rule in our house, T usually will follow suit and join K on the floor with a few books. While K likes to look at lots of different books, T gravitates toward our books that make noise and he's set. He is getting pretty good at matching the picture to the sound button that he's supposed to push. And sometimes he just pushes the same button over and over. It's also adorable. No matter how they do it, they are learning to love books...
....it's a teacher-mom's dream! We sure do love these little bookworms.
