Our pal Ruby invited us to play at a discovery center close to her earlier this week called the
Boonshoft. Ruby has two beautiful children, who are also adopted, and we love to get together with them. I think it's important that K & T know other children who are adopted as they grow up, that they realize that they are not the only chosen ones. But that's just the bonus part, Ruby and company are so much fun to be around! P, Ruby's son, is just a week younger than K, and B, Ruby's daughter turned a year in April. They are perfect pals for K & T! I hadn't heard of the Boonshoft before, but what a terrific place it turned out to be! Here's a look as we discovered the discovery center.
| Just inside the front door is this twister capsule, it reminded me of a time machine. K jumped right in and I knew we are off to a great start! |
| T immediately ran to this graduated cylinder filled with bouncing balls. There was a trap door in the back that he found to get the balls out. |
| K ran to this wooden horse for a little ride, and then to the large water table |
| where P was already playing. |
| I think the automatic hand dryer was K's favorite part! She kept dipping her hands in the water and then would run over to dry them. |
| Future astronauts? |
| Buttons, buttons, so many buttons! |
| If there is a slide, T will find it! |
| Beautiful B taking a turn. |
| Digging for dinosaur bones. |
| A huge video screen wall that fascinated T. There was loud techno music playing when we went into that room, of course T, our resident music lover, immediately started boppin and moving... |
| So I scooped T up and started dancing with him! He has great moves. This is our silhouette on the wall that changed colors with the beat. |
| Back at the water zone, T tried to shove this boat up this air tube. At the museum center we usually go to, T knows it a vacuum and was a bit confused that this air tube was didn't 'work' the same way. So he just splashed the boat into the water. :) |
| This display was to show the power of air. K got it, just look at that happy grin! |
| Of course T tried it out too. Monkey See, Monkey Do! |
| "Wait, what? I'm allowed to just stand here and hit something? Bring it!" |
| K climbed this huge rope tower that connected the first floor to the second floor, I was so proud of her! |
| This pizza kitchen was a huge hit with all of the kids, I think they could have played there all day! |
| Say cheese.....pizza! |
| Within the Boonshoft, there is a small zoo, who knew? This owl greeted us after the otters who were swimming way too fast for my camera. |
| Spying on the meerkats. |
| Cutest inmates ever! |
| T jumped right into the role of juror number one. |
| We spent quite a bit of time in the recycling room. All three kids fit perfectly into the front of the truck as the drivers while... |
| this little did all of the work! |
| K & T saw how much fun she was having a jumped in to try it out. |
| Ooohh, Just look at that cute face! |
| If there is a car to drive, these two will find it! I'm not sure how T always ends up in the driver's seat either. (Can you see P's hands and head photobombing us? love it!) |
| After lunch, our last stop was the bird observation room. We only saw one bird, but the kids thought the binoculars were super cool! |
| The kiddos |
| Thank you for a FUN-TASTIC day Ruby, we loved the Boonshoft! |
