I always love a snow day, it's just one of the perks of being a teacher. Tracy, a good friend of mine, who is also a teacher, helped make one of our recent snow days even more fun than usual. Tracy has listened to my K & T stories over the past couple of years, and shares lots about her two sweet boys as well. She reads my blog, and I've told her that she should do one too. I'd read it. :) On this particular snowy morning she shared on facebook that her boys didn't want to go outside to play in the elements, so she brought snow inside for them to make mini-snowmen and snow cream. What a creative mom! She said she got the idea of bringing snow in from me, but I actually got the idea from someone else.
I commented on facebook about bringing snow in for her boys to play in the sink like K & T, and then this picture quickly showed up on facebook.

There's her big boys standing on chairs, playing in the sink with snow, just like K & T. Well, I just cracked up when I saw this. Her boys are tall, and seeing them all hunched over, playing with measuring cups, in their pjs, how could one not laugh! And what good sports the boys were to let her take AND post that picture.
So then I joked back on facebook that we were building couch forts and playing playdough, and asked what were they going to do. One can only guess what happened next.
Here's how the day played out.
| K & T started playing with playdough, and I started cookie dough. |
| Z, played with the best of these two worlds, gingerbread cookie dough! Cute kid, and smart mom. Looks like he needs more tools than one little cookie cutter. Perhaps we could share next time. |
| K & T moved on to dress up and dancing. |
| What smooth moves they had! |
| Not to be outdone, Z dressed up too. Nice tiara you handsome devil. Your mom owes you big time, this was on facebook too. |
| We had quite a bit of fort building going on. |
| Even in multiple rooms. |
| Hiding is one of their favorite things to do. |
| Throughout the day T added more and more 'necessities' to his piano bench fort. Lots of little play weapons and play food. He'll be handy in an emergency. |
| Here's the fort that Tracy's boys did. Not bad huh! |
| They had room for both of them and their cat. Well done guys. A, why are you hiding your face? You have a cool mom! |
| After the dancing and fort building, K & T reached for games. This ice one is one of their faves. |
| And they are getting more patient with Zingo too. This is one of my faves. |
| More games! The kids like this balancing game, there are lots of combinations to find. |
| Z played a game too! I wonder who won, him, A or his mom? |
| After a morning of copying us, Tracy took this pic of Z tossing indoor snowballs at a target and suggested that we copy them. |
| And that we did. K & T loved it! |
| They actually played this snowball game on and off for the next several days. What a fun idea! |
| I didn't get a pic of K & T eating lunch, but they did eat. We got to see that Z enjoyed his picnic lunch of grilled cheese and strawberries in the couch fort. That's the best place to eat on a snowday. (Shhh, don't tell K &T!) |
| We wrapped up our afternoon playing puzzles... |
| and Z did one too! What a sport. I hope your mom paid you money, or gave you extra video game time, you earned it Z! |
Playing outside in the snow on a snow day is always super duper. But thanks to Tracy, A & Z, this snow day was extra fun!
