a snowman hunt

One snowy afternoon, when the roads were cleared up, we went for a drive. We were all suffering from a little cabin fever and needed to get out.  We bundled K & T up and decided to go on a snowman hunt.  Because the kids are so little, they don't really remember the winter before when we played in the snow, it's all new to them this year.  So they don't have much experience seeing real snowmen.  They were excited to be on the lookout!

Here they are cozied up and ready for a drive, complete with Baby and Friend.
They were impressed with this short guy until they saw...
this colorful creature.
K & T thought this family was pretty neat...
until they saw this giant Olaf!!  Isn't it wonderful?
Now this is one cool dude, complete with mohawk.
T was immediately impressed with this snow castle.
And then he saw this light saber guy ready to fight.
We aren't into Minecraft here, but I found this pretty impressive.
And finally, these two snowbuddies were K's faves.  She liked how they were 'hugging'.
After we came home we were feeling inspired and decided to build our own snow creation.
First, we started rolling snowballs.
And Andy started piling it all together.
The kids were close at hand adding scoops of snow in just the right places.
T worked through the cold and was looking forward to 'putting the face on'.
We worked quickly, and used mini Oreos for the face, and added a stick nose and clementine buttons.
Some of the Oreos may or may not have been eaten by K & T.
Our first family snowman.

Ta-da!  We did it!  K & T were quite happy with our little snowguy.  They watched over him protectively as he slowly melted over the next few days, and watched while the birds ate the cookie face.  As the kids get bigger we'll be able to stay outside in the cold longer and longer, and I can only imagine the snowmen that we will make together.  We love snow!
