At the end of last month we had the opportunity to go to Andy's family reunion outside of Chicago. We were a little nervous about the car ride with K & T, not sure how they would enjoy such a long trip, but they did FANTASTIC! I had packed all kinds of games, toys, snacks, prizes etc. and we hardly needed it. T was content to watch the world go by from his window, or to chat into the mirror that he can see from his rear facing carseat. He napped a lot too. We have a portable dvd player that Andy rigged up for K to watch Elmo & Lady and the Tramp to her heart's content. When we got into the car and turned the player on that first time, you could hear the shock and surprise in K's voice. "TV?" "TV?" "TV" she asked a few dozen times. She was very happy. We took the dvd player down when we got home, and she hasn't asked about it since. Thank goodness!
It was a wonderful weekend with Andy's family. We were excited for everyone to meet K & T, and they were anxious and so very happy to meet them too. Once again, we can see the Lord's hand in our lives, especially through these sweet kiddos. They fit in perfectly in both of our families in every way. It's hard to explain, but it's like they have always been a part of us. We can't imagine our lives without K & T. We feel so blessed to have them with us, and are eternally grateful to their birth families for putting the kids' needs first. I can only imagine how difficult this must be for them, but hope that they can one day know that we think of them often, pray for them each night with the kids, and love them although we've never met.
The weekend will filled with family visits, a terrific picnic, lots of laughs and tons of playtime. We had a blast! Here are a few of the pictures that we took.
