B is for Butterflies

Before my mom left for her big trip, she wanted one more day with her grandchildren, and we wanted one more outing with her.  We all decided that the butterfly show (or blutterfly as K says) would be something fun to do together. So we picked a date and showed up at 10 am on a warm morning a couple of weeks ago.  Nana brought N & A, and Shelley brought S & baby J.  K & T were super happy to spend a day with their cousins, and of course, their aunt & their sweet Nana.

The drive through Eden Park is beautiful, and we stopped to look at the city a couple of times on our way down.   At this particular spectacular view, we rolled down our windows, and K said, "It looks just like Papa's trains!" It does indeed look like Papa's model trains that he has in his basement.
My little ones, and one giant butterfly.

While we were waiting for everyone to arrive, K & T were invited to play Pico, Philippine hopscotch.

They gave it a good try.
N, A & K just hanging out!
There were lots of activities for the kids to do before the show.  N was right at home drawing chalk butterflies. Her Mommy Jenny would LOVE that N is a talented artist.
You know the kids were excited to play this giant Kerplunk game.
Sweet baby J waited so patiently for everyone to play.
Giant sticks and lots of balls?  T's dream game!
He really thought this giant Connect 4 was awesome too.  We didn't play, just kept putting the discs in and letting them out.
Most of the grandkid crew ready to see some butterflies!
We were at a conservatory, and the flowers were gorgeous of course! I really liked these purple ones.
We each colored a cardstock disc that we would try to get the butterflies to land on.
The gang is all ready to see some butterflies!
Spotting butterflies
Trying to catch butterflies on their paper flowers.
There were butterflies everywhere!
He was trying so hard.
See?
These ladies came in with a netful of butterflies.
They helped each child get a butterfly on their card, and the kids were free to walk around with them. S got a big butterfly!
K was pleased with her orange pal too.
Look at the one T got!
I love the look on A & N's faces.  What mixed emotions they have!
Showing off their flutter friends.

A showing baby J what she found.
Baby J and Nana on the hunt for the winged insects.
The butterflies made themselves at home on a few of us.  T had one on the back of his shirt.
This one sat on Shelley's head for quite some time. It looks like she wore it on purpose, it looks so perfect there.
J watched this butterfly carefully.
Can you spot the one the landed on S's dress?  It must of been looking for flowers.

When one sees a beautiful butterfly bench, one must take a picture on it.

Or 6 pictures.  Everyone wanted a turn.

On the way out, this circus performer was juggling.  T couldn't stop watching him.
Then T's dreams came true and the guy offered T a turn to try.
Monkey see, monkey do, you had a turn, I want one too!
We ate lunch together at one of our favorite restaurants  after the show.  We didn't actually sit at this counter but it sure made for a cute picture of the cousins.

B is for butterflies, they were bountiful & beautiful! Thanks for a great day everyone!
