the lights

I've written about our love of the zoo many times, we recently made a special trip to see not only the kids' favorite animals, but the zoo's bountiful Christmas lights as well. We got to the zoo before it got dark and then stayed for the magic.  It was such a fun and beautiful evening.

K all bundled up to see her elephants.
3 hats?  Yes, says this guy.  He's ready for the cold!
This beautiful and very tall tree greets guests upon entering the zoo.  K & T thought it was awesome.
These female elephants were inside because of the weather, and were walking around in a circle. K could watch them all day (and night!)
Daddy & T taking in the elephants.
Look at this pretty girl!  See the pink and purple lights behind her?  She was in heaven!
There was a fairy garden set up near the elephants, the kids loved looking for the little statues.
Found another one!
T found this one and ran right over, he was so proud!  After a picture we walked on.
A quick pic on our way to the children's zoo.
The goats were out and as active as usual, even though it was getting dark.  Daddy doesn't get to experience the goats as often as we do, so the kids dragged him in.
Brushing the goats.
Feeding them a little snack.
She was brave too!
The playground was just as fun in the evening as it is during the day.

See?
Guess who was taking gift requests?  The big man!  K & T wanted nothing to do with him.
So why is this little man smiling?  Cause we skipped Santa, and headed for the train!
K & Daddy sat together.
and I got my guy.  I love him to pieces!
Waving at the people as we left the depot.
We saw such beautiful lights from the train, listened to great Christmas music and even saw the ducks on the pond swimming around happily.  The train was so much fun!  We did a little more walking and light looking around the zoo, and then decided to head on home.  It had been a great night.
On the way out we saw Frosty the snowman.  The kids weren't too pumped about it, but I was!  They really don't like people in costumes.
Look at this tired guy!  He's having a little popcorn before the journey home. That's his favorite snack at the zoo.
It was such a fun evening to celebrate the season, and best of all, we got to do it as our family of four.  How I've dreamed of family dates like this for years!  The Lord has blessed us as only He can.
