SNOW DAY!

Who has a job where you can possibly be called at 4:45am and be told to not go to work?  I do!  Not many people can say that. It's just one of the many perks of being a teacher.  I always loved snow days as a kid, but I think they are even better as an adult.  I vowed to myself this morning that I would make the most of this bonus day with the kids, and that I would take my camera everywhere we went.  We had a great day and as a result, are all tuckered out tonight.  Bring on the snow!

Our backyard was covered with snow this morning.  We had expected more than this, but it was enough to shut the schools!  When I walked in to K's room this morning, she said, "Nana?"  She's such a smartie.  We tell her every night who she will be playing (who the babysitter is) with the next day and she knew it was supposed to be Nana.  I told her that there was a change, and it was a stay-home day.  We were both very excited!

K's mouth literally dropped open when we opened the curtains and she saw all the white stuff.

For breakfast T requested a cereal bar, he ended up eating two of them.  I threw on the bananas and blueberries which he also loves.
K said she wanted pancakes, and even got the syrup out of the cabinet for me.  She, however, quickly changed her mind when she heard that T wanted a cereal bar.  Monkey see, Monkey do. She got one too.

T finished off his breakfast with his snack cup.  He ended up putting bananas in there with the Kix cereal.  Silly kid.  I washed it out.  A phone call from a friend reminded me that our church playgroup was meeting today.  We cleaned up quickly and were off to see our friends!

T scoping the scene at playgroup.

T and J checking out the Barbies. Yep, no girls in sight!

Jumping on someone else's bed is oh-so-much fun!

"Mommy, I jumping!"  Thank you Sarah for inviting us over, the kids had a ball!

After playgroup we had a lunch date at Nana and Papa's.  K & T love going to play there, they have so many cool toys...

...and they get down and play with us!

Auntie Em had this little robot dog when she was younger.  K is fascinated with it.

While we got lunch ready, K & T tried these lacing cards. Such good fine motor practice!  :)

This is the only pic I took at lunch, I was too busy refereeing.  The kids ate lasagne roll ups that Em made, and finished off some homemade pizza.  T also ate a clementine and both kids ate an applesauce pouch.

After lunch it was back to playing!  K has recently discovered light switches, and turns them on and off wherever she is.

Nana had cookie dough all ready for cookies to be baked after lunch.  Here's K sampling the dough.
She also helped smash/form the cookies.

Of course T wanted a turn too, remember our family motto right now is: monkey see, monkey do!

T tried eating more than a sample of the dough.  Of course he is always willing to show off!
While the cookies baked, K read a book...
...and T played the drums.
A little more dough sampling...
and the cookies are done!
Papa had a snow day too, he tried organizing the toy closet while T assisted.  They were having the cutest conversation about farm animals when I snapped this shot.
Wait....did someone say the cookies were done?  YES!
He was giddy that he grabbed two and no one stopped him.
Cookie coma.
Pretty girl.  After all of this fun, it was time to go home for naps.

When Daddy got home, he helped K get dressed to play outside.  She was in heaven in the snow!
We kept T inside, he's still recovering from his surgery/virus/teething that he's had going on for the past couple of weeks.  He watched K play outside with Mommy.

We were reminded that Spring is on the way despite the snow, here's our daffodils.
K loving the snow.
Don't worry, we didn't leave T out of the snow fun.  We filled the sink with snow and he went to town chopping and mixing.
When it got dark, K came in to play at the sink and apparently have a snow snack.
Cutie kids. Dinner's ready!
We had mini tacos, green beans, black olives and strawberries.
Who teaches them this stuff?
Eating up.
After dinner, K played on the Nook for a while.  She loves a game called Monkey Preschool Lunchbox.  It has a matching memory game, puzzles, counting practice, color practice and an introduction to uppercase letters.
T played hide and seek with Daddy.  That's always a fun game!
K & T had some white cheddar popcorn as a bedtime snack and watched a little bit of Toy Story 2.
K squeezed in a little counting practice and then it was time for the kids' favorite time of the day...
BATHTIME!  They both love the bath, and love to be in it together.  When K outgrew the little toddler bath that we had in the tub (that we would bath them separately in), we started putting them in the big tub together.  Monkey see, monkey do!
We always read books and sing songs before K & T go to bed.  Goodnight Moon is our usually go to, but tonight we looked at this chicken book.
No David! is a popular choice too.  I didn't get pics of the singing, but T chose Itsy Bitsy Spider, and K chose If you're happy and you know it.  She loves to jump on the bed and fall down during this song.
The last drink of water before prayers, hugs and kisses.
Thank you Mother Nature for this bonus day with the kids.  It felt like a Saturday all day, and we all had tons of fun. We got to see lots of friends &  family, played in the snow, and loved just being together.  I will try to remember this awesomeness next week when I'm sure daylight savings will play havoc on our schedule.  :)  Happy Snow Day everyone!
