Peeps Popcorn

We tried a pinterest idea during our Super Saturday with the nieces called Peeps Popcorn. Here's the recipe.  The girls seemed to have a blast chopping their peeps to little bits, and even T got into it.  (We also realize that K pronounces 'knife' as 'neaf' rhyming with leaf.  It's adorable). The end result was certainly tasty and sugary sweet, but it ended up becoming a giant popcorn ball rather then something easy to eat.  I would try it again however, especially if we had such great helpers and quality control!  Here's a look at the popcorn in the making.
The kiddos chopping away at their marshmallow peeps.
Some chose to rip them to shreds.
Some chose the knife
Some were very zealous
Some meticulous
After chopping, we popped a bunch of popcorn.  As the recipe suggested, we kept it plain.  T loved watching the kernels pop up from the safety of daddy's arms.
Next, we melted the butter

And melted one color of peeps in each batch. N was a great stirrer and kept an eye on the peeps as they lost their identity.
Almost done, we poured the mixture over the popcorn and stirred, carefully.  Last we let it all cool on foil (see top picture) and then mixed all the colors together into one yummy, sticky, colorful ball. The girls ate a bunch after lunch and seemed to be pleased with their creation.

 Happy Peeping!
