swimming lessons

K & T completed a couple weeks of swimming lessons this summer, and LOVED every minute of it. They've been begging to go back ever since. We did a brief mom and me class last summer, but this was their first time of us just sending them into the water to listen to their teachers. It was so cool to watch them learn new things.  K is truly comfortable in the water.  She prides herself on blowing bubbles while she goes underwater, and is learning some swimming skills.   T learned a bunch about safety, and is getting to be more comfortable in the water.  He's still just three years old, and I have to remind myself that he's doing the best he can do when he gets wiggly.  I know next year they will be excited when we go back for lessons.  Until then, we've got lots of things to practice!

Funny story with those eggs, one lesson, early on in the week, the teachers were playing hide and seek with them and had all seven children turn around in the pool so they could 'hide' them in the water.  The eggs fill with water and sink down so the children have to go underwater to get them.  When all were full of water, they had the kids turn around and try to get them.  T was hesitant to put his face in the water, so while the teachers were busy with the other kids finding their eggs, he scooted over to the carton on the side of the pool, grabbed one from there, and presented it to the teachers as if it was full of water.  They almost bought it until we told on him.  We had seen the whole thing!  A+ for being creative though T. 

Miss Carla was a wonderful teacher, was very patient with them all, and showed her love for the water.  Here she is helping T learn to kick his legs.

K made a little friend, D, to the right of her.  Those two spent the entire two weeks swimming and playing right next to each other.  

Here's Mr. T getting ready to run out of the pool to come and get a hug from us.  He only did this the first couple of days until he got really comfortable. 

Hmmm.  Which one is not like the other?  He really practiced his listening skills, and we will continue to work on it.
