We celebrated my mom's birthday just a few days early with a family dinner on Sunday evening at our house. It's always fun to have everyone together, and with our big family that can happen quite often. K & T were especially excited to have the party at our house, they love parties, and they love their nana. It was a perfect combination. Here's a peek into Nana's party!
| We started off with an egg hunt, Aunties Shelley & Emma were in charge of hiding the eggs, they did a great job. |
| Meanwhile, the kids tried to sit patiently while waiting which proved to be hard for some. (That's my brother Andrew hiding his crazy face). |
| T always likes a hug from his Nana. They are two peas in a pod, there's a special something between these two, and I don't think they could look more alike if there were genetics between them! |
| Emma getting serious hiding the last few eggs in the playset. |
| ...And they are off! We made it simple this year, assigning each kid a particular color egg. K was pink, & T was blue. I would totally do it again this way, it made for a fair hunt, and the kids helped each other find their eggs rather than race each other for them. |
| Pretty N stopped for a quick picture. I love her haircut! |
| Nana and T worked together to find his eggs, and eggs for baby J. |
| K was a serious hunter in her hot pink cowboy boots. |
| Smile K! She found her pink egg, right next to N's orange one. |
| Now really Emma? How is baby J supposed to get this one? |
| This guy is having a ball! |
| A streching for her final yellow egg hidden in a bush. |
| Counting to make sure she has her dozen. |
| Papa giving the yard a final once over at the end of the hunt. |
| Happy hunters |
| Back inside the kids opened their eggs to find their goodies. T was actually pretending to crack his like he does the hard boiled eggs he likes so much. |
| Baby J checking out his Papa. |
| And then his Nana. |
| We can't get enough of this handsome baby! |
| Finally, it was time for dinner. Mom chose mexican, so we made chicken enchiladas and shredded beef tacos with all the fixings in her honor. It was such a delicious meal. |
| After dinner it was fun to watch the cousins playing in the hallway together. I hope they are friends forever. |
| This crowd was watching one of the basketball games. |
| We started the games with a fun jelly bean one. I filled eggs with one, two, three, four, five & six jelly beans and taped them up, then the girls had to put them in the correct order. |
| While the girls were guessing, Andrew set up Don't Break the Ice for N & T. |
| And Nana got in a little J time. |
| They worked together to solve it! Good work ladies! |
| Then Dad jumped in. I knew his math skills would come in handy for this one. He solved it quickly. |
| The family watching a funny video, looks like a jolly crew. |
| And what exactly is happening here? It's a peep game! They have to get the peep from their forehead to their mouth without using their hands. It's hilarious to watch. |
| See? |
| If your peep falls off your face, you have to try again. |
| S is almost there! |
| Go A! |
| C'mon Emma! You're a pro! |
| Baby J is just too tiny for peeps just yet. |
| We played another peep game, this time they had to build the tallest tower of peeps that would stand on it's own. |
| S had a good strategy of making a pyramid of peeps. |
| A went for more of a straight tall tower approach. |
| N was really concentrating . |
With hands off for 10 seconds, N is the winner with the tallest tower of peeps!
With the games complete, it's time for cake. |
| Only a lady as special as Nana gets not one, but two delicious birthday cakes. |
| K wanted to sit on Nana's lap while we sang Happy Birthday, but Nana blew out her own candle. |
| Andrew, baby J & Dad having a friendly chat. |
| Ooo, we just love this baby. He is just mastering sitting up. You've got this J! |
| Opening some special chocolates from a local sweet shop. |
| One last picture of Nana & her crew of grandkids. I don't think there's a cuter bunch! |
Happy, Happy Birthday Mom. We hope all of your birthdays wishes come true!
