Last year's
reaction to Santa was not what I expected. However, we had been looking forward to Breakfast with Santa since the beginning of December. I was anxious to see if K & T would do better with Santa this year as they were a year older and we had really tried to talk positively about him. At our Polar Express night at school this year, Santa was there, and we waved to him. K & T said they wanted to talk to him that night, but we promised we'd see him in a few days, and I felt a little hopeful that they would enjoy themselves.

| The kids were excited to come back to Mommy's work, and always enjoy people watching no matter where they are. T enjoyed a donut while watching other kids visit with Santa. |
 |
| K, with a mouthful of breakfast, couldn't wait to make reindeer food. |
 |
| The kids could have stood here all day playing with the glitter & oatmeal making bags of reindeer food. |

My pal Leslie, who was taking pictures of the kids with Santa, struck a deal with K. She promised to take K to the pool this summer if K would sit nicely for one picture. And she did. Just 10 seconds after this picture was taking, K was a puddle on the floor. K did manage to ask Santa for a necklace that wouldn't break. Earlier in the week she wanted crackers and then changed it to a phone after seeing a pink one at Target. After she stopped crying, we tried to get a picture of both K & T with Santa together.... |
 |
| ...but that was clearly impossible. T was not going to go anywhere near Santa. (I'm certainly glad he has a fear of strangers however.) He cried and cried while he was in a three foot radius of Santa. But he calmed down quickly when we left the stage. |
 |
| A little while later he reluctantly decided that he was okay with a high five, because he wanted to ask Santa for a play phone just like K wanted. |
Although the kids didn't actually like sitting with Santa, they certainly talked about him both before the breakfast and for days and weeks afterward. Even just today K was talking about what she was going to ask Santa for next year.
We will try again next year!
