The rain didn't stop us from having some choo choo fun a couple of weekends ago on an outing with my parents. My dad is a huge train hobbyist, and we knew that at the very least, he would have a good time riding the train. It turns out that the day was really fun and full of family, fall color, puddles, popcorn, and plenty of pumpkins!
| On our way to an adventure! See the red train in the background? That's where we are headed on this blustery morning. I love this picture of K & T walking with their Nana & Papa. |
| Settling in after boarding the train. T just loves his Nannie. |
| Daddy & K getting ready to board the train, they both look so excited! |
| ...And we're off! Not sure who's happier here! Pure joy on my Dad's face. |
| My snugglebunny. The train was unheated, so we took a blanket along. K was waiting for her Papa to get her some freshly popped popcorn. |
| My parents brought along large golf umbrellas and taught T how to play with them. They were all pretending to use them as gears. T really got into it, right along with them. |
| Getting our tickets punched by one of the train engineers. |
| Nana gave T a pen and paper to pass a little time on our ride to the pumpkin patch. |
| The rain didn't let up when we arrived at the pumpkin patch, so we made the best of it with umbrellas and fast feet. The kids didn't mind the water at all, looking for puddles to step into. |
| Time for a picture, not everyone was happy about it. There was so much to see! |
| Mr. T. |
| K & her papa checking out the variety of pumpkins. |
| On the train ride up, K said that she wanted to see a pink pumpkin. After we talked about pumpkins being orange when they are ripe, look what we found at the farm. A pink pumpkin! |
| My handsome men. |
| We all are wet and cold, but happy to be together. We were watching mini horses feed on the farm before walking to the store for a snack. |
| And why were we so wet? This guy had both umbrellas! :) |
| The closest I could get to a brother/sister/many pumpkins shot. There were just so so many new things to look at instead of Mommy's camera. |
| Inside the store we had warm apple cider, pumpkin cookies and hot dogs. Of course, there were plenty of pumpkins around. |
| Cute toy tractors that lined the top shelves. |
| Finishing up a pumpkin cookie. Yum! |
| Back outside we decided to feed the animals. The donkey on the right grabbed that whole carrot right from K's hand rather than taking bites like she was anticipating. She quickly cried that "he ate my carrot". We assured her that all was well, and, that is what is supposed to happen. |
| Feeding the donkeys. The donkey's lips got a little too close to T's hand, and he turned to Andy as those lips brushed his fingers and said, "he bited me!" We assured him that he didn't. |
| This guy is always smiling! Especially when he's outdoors with his family. |
| Cutie K, loving being on the farm. |
| Taking a break from the rain. |
| Feeding the donkeys for a second time. K was a little more careful to hold onto her carrot this time and just gave bites. T just went for it. |
| Doesn't he look so pleased with himself? |
| Tractor! |
| Sitting in a little car while T took an extra turn on the tractor. |
| Checking out the ducks. You can't see it, but they are saying, 'quack, quack'. The kids, not the ducks. |
| Getting ready to load up for the ride back. We each got to choose a pie pumpkin that was grown at the patch. Sweet Papa carried them back for us. |
| K, pretty in pink. |
| Nana & Papa. |
| Having another little snack. An apple always fits the bill. |
| It got a little steamy on the ride back, I showed K how to write on the window. She copied me and wrote a K, hers is on the right. It's the one that looks like a stick person kicking with no head. Still, for a 2 year old window writer, it's pretty good huh? |
| I adore this picture of my mom. It looks like she could be on a train anywhere in the world. |
| We all loved the train trip, see? Just look at that smile! Can't wait until we get to ride the train again! |
