One last trip

On our very last day of Summer before I headed back to work, I asked the kids where they wanted to go.  Without hesitation or reservation K yelled, "zoo!" and T chimed in with "zoo" too.  So, off we went.  It was a hot, hot day, but it actually turned out to be a fantastic trip.  We practically had the place to ourselves, most schools around here have already started at this point, so there weren't many others at the zoo. We rode the train a couple of times, drank lots of ice water, saw just about everything we wanted to see, brushed some goats and enjoyed being together.  Here's yet another look at one of our favorite stomping grounds!

Although we know the zoo like the back of our hand, the kids have begun to want to hold a map while we walk around.

We got to see the elephant show!  It's usually too crowded for us to go to.

K really enjoyed watching the elephants romp in the water.  T was fascinated with the giant red ball in their pool.

This sloth seemed to just be waiting for us to look at him.  He just sat and stared back at us.

The giraffes are always a must.

One of the cutest things at the zoo!  He is really great about keeping a hat on.

I love this new exhibit.  See the giraffe in the background?  It's so picturesque, it reminds me of a scene from Lion King. I can only imagine what Africa is really like.  A safari tour is on my bucket list.

We had to stop for a run or two through the cave near the lions, it's a new must do.

I took this picture to remind me about his feet.  As the train was moving, T started marching with his feet and began yelling 'faster, faster, faster...'  By the end of his little rant,  he was practically running in place!

Watching for the ducks and turtles from the train was so fun, we did it all again!

After the train, the next stop was the Children's Zoo.  Here both K & T liked brushing the goats.  K was holding out for a pink hairbrush, but settled on a blue one.

Of course we had to wash our hands, over and over and over.  No one minded.

We recently converted our stroller from two seats, to the sit and stand position.  Of course the new 'seat' in the back is popular with both of the kids because it's so easy to jump on and off.  We are practicing taking turns.  In this picture K & T are enjoying their favorite zoo snack, popcorn.  I usually pop it at home before we go.  K actually eats hers, and T drops it like Hansel & Gretel as we walk around the zoo.  He tells me he's feeding the birds.
