berry picking

K & T are obsessed with fresh fruit, and that's a good thing.  They eat fresh fruit or vegetables with just about every meal and have already learned a lot about how things grow from helping in our garden. Earlier this summer we went berry picking with Nana and picked enough to make a couple of batches of yummy strawberry jam.  Bring on the berries!
We went to a local U-pick berry farm and found success right away.  The berries were red, ripe & big!
The challenge, you could have guessed, was to get the berries into the bowls and buckets, and not into T's mouth.
Nana showing T how to spot the ripe ones.
The kids found it fun initially, but wanted to keep moving up & down the rows rather than staying in one place to pick.
This is just a sample of what we brought home.

It was a busy day, full of other berry pickers.

More of our load.

Is there a more beautiful site than a ripe berry?
Filling the bowls!
After berry picking, we explored the animals and playground.  Goats are always popular with K & T.

This donkey was pretty handsome too.
And the rabbits were adorable!

After we paid for our berries, she couldn't wait to dig in.
Me either!
We are already looking forward to picking more berries next year!
