mermaids

Mermaids!  The mermaids came to town and visited our local aquarium for a few weeks this month. When we saw the commercial on tv, Andy & I immediately knew that we wanted to take K.  She is mermaid obsessed!  Remember last year when she wanted us to call her Mermaid instead of her name? She was serious.

Posing with the penguin when we arrived.
First off, we looked at the turtles.  They are so much fun to watch!
T chose to watch the sharks with Daddy instead of getting his picture taken with the mermaid.  I asked him more than once. He held on tight to Andy.
This little one was more than happy to wait in line to get her picture taken.  "The mermaid was beautiful Mom", K said to me with dreamy eyes after sitting on her lap.
The kids really like these touching areas in the aquarium.  They can both tell you the two finger rule.
This picture was a must.
Check out the gator trying to hide under the glass floor!  T spied him right away.
Then got down to get a closer look.  I stayed standing up.  :)
Cheese!
The kids think these giant frogs are awesome!
One of Daddy's favorite games to play as a kid, T likes this giant version.
T's frog pose.
K's turn to play!
When we were at the beach this summer, my mom made a point to get fresh fish for dinner.  Both kids really liked it (we are so blessed to have two really good eaters!).  We have eaten fish a few more times since then to keep this healthy habit going.  When we walked by this fish in his tank, T's first words were, "That fish is too big for me to eat.".  I thought this was so funny!
After quite a wait, it was finally our turn to see the mermaid.  Both kids were mezmerized.

Watching her swim around was really cool.  She blew kisses and waved to the kids.
She had an air tube that she sucked on every couple of minutes.  I can't imagine how much mermaid training she had to attend to.
Here's her spotter, hiding in the corner.  He was friendly and waved to us as we walked by.
The jellyfish room is one of my favorites!
magical
Happy kiddos!
More shark touching.
Her too!
The penguins always steal the show.  We could watch them all day.
A new attraction to the aquarium, is the shark bridge.  It's a really skinny bridge that leads across the actual shark tank.  The kids thought walking on the bridge and looking down at the sharks was awesome.
One last pose before we left for lunch.  I hope you loved this trip Miss K!
We ate at one of our favorite places, Tom & Chee.  I think I've written about it before, they make really yummy grilled cheese sandwiches there.  That's a sandwich all of us will eat. Look at K & T using no booster seats!
This guy loved his grilled cheddar on wheat bread, with strawberries & bananas as his side.  A classic choice.
K had the same sandwich, but wanted tomato soup as her side.  She ate 1/2 of her sandwich, gave the rest to T, and asked for more soup.  This picture shows her second cup of the day.  She's a soup lovin' girl!
After lunch we walked around and found this man playing drums.  Guess who broke out with their dance moves.  Both of them.
After the fun of the day, we drove up to Ikea to grab a couple of items for my classroom.  T fell asleep in the car, and slept through Andy bringing him inside, riding the escalator on Daddy's shoulder, laying him down on a couch, and people shopping all around him for about 30 minutes.  Guess he needed a little snooze!

The mermaids were interesting to see, but it was more fun watching our little princess smile and smile and smile.  She was in mermaid heaven.
