(I'm in the midst of starting a new school year, so I'm bogged down at the moment in busyness. I know my dad checks my blog everyday and there's hasn't been anything new for a week, so this is for you Dad!)
While in Chicago we wanted to do a letter in our countdown, and kept this one a secret from K & T until we just about boarded the train. They were so surprised to see the large locomotive coming down the tracks to pick us up at the station. Cousin Beth & Auntie Sarah tagged along, and we were on our way to downtown Chicago! Woo-Hoo!
| Here comes the train! |
| That's a pretty impressive vehicle. |
| Hey, we love these guys! It's Beth & Auntie Sarah! |
| An older gentleman saw us waiting outside before boarding and asked if this was the kids' first trip. We said that it was, and he encouraged us to sit upstairs, that the view was better. We snuggled right it. |

| This guy really liked looking at the people below. He really has no regard for safety at this point in his life. Good thing he's got us. |
| After a two hour ride, we rode into Chicago. |

| This was such a fun way to travel, we got to chat, look outside, snack and people watch. Even the tracks are cool. |
| Of course we talked about Papa (my dad) a lot, and his love of trains. |
| After getting off the train, we hit the streets of Chicago. |
| We found the Bean! Of course we had to take a selfie in it, everyone else was too. |
| This is why we wanted to come downtown, it was the Taste of Chicago! Ever since I met my Aussie cousins here a couple of years ago, I've wanted to bring Andy. I knew he would love it. |
| When K got tired, she took a little rest in the basket of the stroller, while eating a frozen treat of course. |
| This was a yummy treat, a frozen strawberry Popsicle that tasted very fresh. |
| Trying to cool off with their freebie fans. |
| T loved eating corn on the cob here, now he's requesting it at home. |
| Family selfie at the Taste. |
| When one sees a Spam man, one must take a picture. And look, K & T weren't scared! |
| It was a warm day, but oh so pretty. Just look at that skyline, and all those people. While here we sampled Chicago pizza and hot dogs, sausages, juice, and popcorn. Andy even tried a new Mt. Dew. |
| We needed this picture as train proof. |
| Thanks for coming with us, we love you! |
| We stopped for dinner at one of our favorite Chicago places after our ride back, mostly for the memories. |
| The kids zonked right out after a quick bath back at Grandpa's, it had been an awesome day! |
L is for Locomotive. It was a great way to spend the day!
