K is for Kindness Day!

Being kind to others is something that was taught to Andy & I by our parents when we were little, and it's important to us that K & T learn to think of others, even though they are young. We talk a lot as a family about serving others, and showing compassion and empathy towards each other and our friends.  We are surrounded by people who do the same, and the kids have lots of positive examples in their lives of people who are kind.

So, it was time for K day, and we decided to have a day dedicated to service.  For Family Home Evening that week we talked about what we wanted to do, and then worked with K & T to come up with a list of things that we could do to make others smile.  They had some fun ideas!  The day turned out to be a rainy day, so we didn't accomplish everything on our list, but we will continue to look for opportunities to be kind.

This is the list that we came up.
At one of our favorite houses during the day, we stopped at Heather's and brought her an unexpected treat.  Here are the kids knocking on her door.
She was surprised to see us!
Heather is one of my best friends, and the kids adore her.
She loves them right back.  Happy Kindness Day!
These are our next-door neighbors whom we love.  They are true examples of kindness, always stopping for a chat, saying hi, and their freezer is always full of popsicles for the kids.  We surprised them with a homemade banana cream pie on kindness day.
Back at home, we wrote some thank you notes and love notes, some we dropped off, and some we mailed.
This is T's for Nana.
K is for Kindness Day.  One day that we will definitely do again!
