Snow Day!

We got a stay home day together last week when we woke up to 4 inches of snow outside.  What a fun surprise!  I took pictures all day long of our bonus day together, and hope it's not the only one this winter. I love teaching, but I love playing with K & T even more.
K loved these adorable pajamas she got for her b-day from Auntie Shelley.  K told me she sleeps like a princess in her princess pajamas.
A stay home day means we aren't in a rush to get anywhere.  K & T love to watch TV snuggled up in our bed on these kinds of mornings.  Peppa Pig is one of their favorite shows to watch.
After a bit, we came downstairs to check out the snow.  T just stared and stared.
It was really beautiful and quiet.
We had to look in all of the windows to see if the snow was everywhere!
We watched this flock of birds fly around and around from our kitchen window.  There were so many of them.
The kids wanted to play a bit before breakfast, K grabbed her new mermaid wig first.  Isn't she lovely?
The dollhouse is a big hit with both kids.  K calls it a dream house, even though it's Fisher Price.
A few weeks ago the kids made these tiger feet at library storytime with Nana.  T busted them out on this snow day. he started with two sliding around on the floor, and then told me he needed the other two, since tigers have four feet.
Much better.
The tiger is on the prowl.
The kids wanted a quick breakfast of cereal bars, yogurt and fruit so they could get back to playing.
T started off on the ipad,
while K grabbed some dress up and watched Sesame Street.
Then she and I played with Connect Four.  We don't really play too often, she just likes to drop the checkers in and I get to mostly watch.
Then T & I had a sword fight.
He's calling me to come and get him.
Then it was time to brave the cold and head out! We bundled up pretty well.
If you asked T what his favorite thing to do in the snow, I would bet he would say shoveling.
She's a pretty cute shoveler too.
Busy, busy!
Ooo, I just love this guy!
Stopping for a quick snow snack.
"Monkey see, monkey do, look T, I'm eating snow too!"
I love this snow princess so much! (That look tells me I must of interrupted her snowy snack).
Running through the snow

is so much fun to do!

Smile if you love snow!

I showed these two how to make a snowball, and may have thrown one or two at them.

Guess who figured how to chuck it right back?

THIS GUY!

K jumped in on the action as well.

Ready....

Aim....

FIRE!

But don't worry, she got him back.

See?

Our snowbunny

Our snowbear

Still snacking...

We were braving the elements well, so we decided to take a little walk down the street.

and had another snowball fight.  When we got back, we felt frozen, so we decided to come in to thaw out.

This little man loves to help.  he spotted a few drops of water on the floor from our boots and ran for a towel to get them.  He's wonderful!

Warming up.

Ooo, I just love days like this!

K & T painted a bit while I got lunch ready.

T wanted a hardboiled egg as part of his lunch, but insisted on peeling it himself.  His nana taught him how to do this.

After lunch K & T played for awhile and I got our next activity ready...

A sinkful of snow!  A friend of mine told me about this trick a couple of years ago.  I'm so glad she did, it's been a great way to let them play in the snow, but not to freeze to death!

And it makes the snow snacking so much easier to do.

See? He made a snowcone.

I think this is my favorite picture of the day.  To me it shows the kids getting along, interested in what they are doing, and just how cute they are!

Their paintings are dry.  T's is the one with the blue lines, and K's is colored all over.  Both great pieces.

The mermaid asking me to go back out.

So we did, just out for another taste of the cold stuff I'm sure.  I had to throw all of our snow gear in the dryer to get it ready for Round 3!

Cheese!

and cheese again.

I taught them how to make snow angels today.  They acted like I was crazy when I told them to lay down.

And they tried their best to wave their arms and legs, until

K made a secret snowball and chucked it at me.

The fight is on again!

I think he's going to remember our snowball fights for a long time!  (K is making more snow angels back there, she's alright).

At the end of the day, after dinner, K & T chilled out before bathtime.  K chose to play on the ipad,

While T got cozy for a Jake & the Neverland Pirates.
What a great, jam-packed bonus day! I love these days so much, and hope that K & T do too.  I'm one lucky mommy.
