beach trial run

Are we on vacation yet?  Not quite,  but we had a trial beach run last weekend.  One of our good friends suggested visiting one of our state parks for a day at the beach.  I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but went along as we are always up for a good time with our friends.  The day turned out to be so much fun and even better than we expected!  The weather was a bit of an issue in the morning, so we delayed our start by a couple of hours, but again, the day turned out perfectly.  The overcast weather might have kept some crowds away, and allowed for great pictures!

A few years ago we went on a vacation to the East with my family including young S, K & T's cousin.  I believe she was two at the time, and she ended up not liking the beach at all.  I'm not sure if it was the loud waves, or the salty water, or the large crowds, she didn't care for it one bit.  That experience makes me a tad nervous for our upcoming vacation with K & T who are ages three and two, respectively.  But this beach day gives me great hope that K & T are going to love it!

I took lots of pictures on this day of our friends and family having a blast in the sand and the water.  We can't wait to go back!  Who knew we had a beach so close to us!?!
T testing the waters.
T looking so very grown up. just look at those long legs.  Where did my baby boy go?
K was right at home in the sand and the water!
T playing with his friend H.
I love K's expression & stance here, it looks like pure joy!
T checking out some of the bigger boys handiwork.
C & T making some additions to the sand stream.
The lake was perfect!  Warm and not too deep.  R is playing shark with T on the left in this pic.  See the buoy in the back?  The lake was shallow, up to the kids' chests to that point.  There was lots of room to safely play.
Our little mermaid.
These duck prints were all over the sand.
Daddy & T having a little tug of war.
Here's the gang, we had the place almost to ourselves.
Some of my pals smiling in the sun with their sweet littles.
K practicing blowing bubbles.
T trying to wash the sand off his feet.  He's so silly!  Where did he think he was going to go when he got out?
Baby R was so much fun to watch playing in the sand.  He is such a cutie!
No matter the temperature outside, T seems to get cold easily.  We take frequent cuddle breaks to warm up.  No one's complaining!
This little boat belonged to our friends, but both K & T loved playing in it.
See!!
One more shot of the group.
K with some of her gal pals.  They are all such sweet girlies.
Cute kiddos who loved the water!
