Ever since we attended cousins S & A's
dance recital last spring, K has talked about dancing and taking a class. She pretended a lot to pack her backpack and stroller and told me she 'was going to class' as she would walk around our island in the kitchen. We really talked about it a lot while she was potty training and that once she wore her big girl panties, she would be ready to go to class. Well, she made her goal, and has been to her very first class. She talked about the whole week before the actual class, she would randomly whisper to me, 'Mom, is today my class?' Not sure why she was whispering, but I would tell her how many more days until dance day. She was very excited to get in the car on this morning, after quickly kissing Daddy & T goodbye. Andy had planned to take T to breakfast, and then to the hardware store to look at tools, you know, man-ly things.
K jumped out of the car when we arrived, and never looked back! Here's a look at K's first class.
| We borrowed these ballet shoes from cousin A, K couldn't wait to wear them! |
| Pretty in pink! We borrowed this cute leotard and tutu from cousin S. K felt like such a big girl! |
| Showing off a new self taught move just before class. |
| As class begins, K shows that she can follow directions beautifully! |
| Dancing with stuffed turtles, one of K's favorite parts! |
| Practicing balancing the turtle on their heads and... |
| backs. K nailed it! |
| "Swimming" to a song about fish. Just look how happy she is! |
| Using shakers during another song. |
| Jump, jump, jump K! |
| At the end of class she waited very patiently for her sticker (which read bust-a-move!) I just love how she sits on her feet! |
When I asked K what she liked about her ballet class tonight, she said, "Umm, I liked stickerrrrrs, turtlesssss, shakers and dancing. I like some friends. (small pause). I like my tutu." Then she whispered, 'Mom, is today my class?' "No K, just a few more days until you next class" I replied. Oh, how I just love her!
