Learning

I may have mentioned it before, but I think these learning posts are some of my favorites to write.  I enjoy sitting with Andy and talking about what we remember seeing the kiddos do recently.  They are growing up so very fast and I just want to capture every moment in a bubble to keep forever!  We still continue to comment to one another on how remarkable this whole situation is, what a miracle has occurred in our lives, how grateful we are for their birthfamilies, as well as their foster family, and how our prayers have been answered after years and years.   The Lord is so good and truly knows each one of us.  These two are perfect for us!  I can't explain how much my life has changed over the past few months, but all for the better.  I can't imagine our lives without these sweet children, I would wait/struggle/climb mountains for 16 years all over again for them!  Becoming a mother is a delicious dream come true.

Here's what K & T have been up to recently:

K: *Loves music!  She really likes songs that have actions to go with them.  Her favorites right now are Popcorn Popping, If You're Happy and You Know It (she likes to blink her eyes), Here Comes the Train (a song my dad sings), and Pokey Bear.  We sing in the car, throughout the day and always at night.  She sings/says/shouts the words she knows and really tries to do the actions in the songs, it's so cute.
*Over the past few weeks she has begun to try to use her little potty when she thinks she needs to use the restroom, however official potty training is a few months away.  We're both not quite ready.
*K is choosing Olivia board books to read quite frequently, as well as any book that has sounds with it.  No David books are always a good go-to in a pinch.
*Washing K's hair has gotten so much better in the tub, and she signs 'play' for more time to play with tub toys after she's washed.  She even teases me about taking baths during the day! She is growing up for sure.
*Of course going outside is always K's first choice of things to do.  In the backyard she has been picking strawberries to snack on almost everyday.  She has also leaned how to eat a popsicle outside with help.  Mmmm.
*K has taken it upon herself to give herself a job.  She is the official door closer.  Literally.  She closes any door or drawer that is open throughout the day, even when you're using it.  I think she will like chores when the times comes.
*Since she has learned her important body parts, we are moving on to animal names and sounds.  She knows cow and says 'mooo', she still signs dog and cat and sometimes says the name too, she names the pig, duck, horse with sounds as well as owl.   Colors are next!
* Her new favorite word is : 'huh?'  She says it over and over again and even says it lots of times in a row to be funny.  She's quite a teaser.
*K has also made up her own game of hiding things behind her back and then springs them on you to show you.  I think it's a version of peek-a-boo.  She does it with all kinds of things, but mostly small toys.
*She has recently begun to bring T things when he is crying and she says 'uh-oh, uh-oh' until we get to help T.  She is a great big sister when he's upset.  She still doesn't like to share however, and since he's begun to crawl, she says 'MINE' even louder when she sees him coming for her or what she's playing with.
*We always count the steps when we go up and down the stairs in the house or at church.  She says 'two' after 'one' and 'nine' after eight.  I don't think she really knows what 'two' means, but when I give her one pretzel stick she says 'two' to ask for more.  What a smartie pants!
*K alltime favorite shows are Sesame Street and Elmo's World.  We have several Sesame Street toys that she plays with all day, along with her dollbaby, and she carries an Elmo bag around to collect things.  She can names several of the characters as well, Big Bird, Elmo, Count, Bert and we are working on Ernie and Cookie Monster.
*She names our family members throughout the day to check to see where everyone is.  She refers to herself by her first name and loves to have people visit.  She has a big heart and a great memory.

She is growing up so fast.  It seems like new words come every day!  K is full of sass, spunk and spirit.  We wouldn't want her any other way!  She has added tremendous joy to our home.

T learns new tricks everyday!  *He is army crawling all over the house and gets up on his knees often too.  He has started to climb up large items and loves to stand when we are holding his hands.
*He loves to eat using the fresh food feeder.  He slaps his arms on the high chair tray when he sees us getting it ready.  He likes to eat bananas, peas, any sort of berries, and grapes in it.  It's quite messy, but he is happy the whole time he is eating.
*He has a deep giggle and can really laugh it up when we play his favorite game, peek-a-boo.  He has begun to play himself too, he gets his blanket and raises it up in his arms to play and then laughs and laughs.
*T enjoys long sits with daddy and has begun to look at books and not just chew on their corners.
*He continues to drool a lot, those two top teeth are just coming through, as well as a third tooth on the bottom, and loves his fingers and binky. He chews on everything.  Literally.
*Just like his big sister, T has begun throwing his bink out of crib during naps and bedtime.  Each time it is a treasure hunt to find on the floor as it usually rolls under the crib. T usually giggles when you're searching for the bink as he thinks you're playing peek-a-boo with him.
*T has a crib mirror in his bed and he talks and talks to his reflection when he is settling down for a nap.  We put him in his crib awake these days.
*When he wakes up, he cries and sits up in bed, pushes down the bumper, and stares at the door just waiting for someone to come and get him.  When he sees you, he starts slapping his arms on his legs in excitement and usually falls over.
*He is sitting up to play more than on his tummy now and he has found his voice.  He has begun to scream at the top of his lungs to hear himself, he's not upset, just babbling and 'singing'.  When K hears him she yells too.  They are quite a pair.
*T is starting to eat finger foods and loves banana puffs and Kix cereal. He is still working on his pincer grip but can get the food into his mouth most of the time using his whole hand.  Eating is always an adventure with him, and he loves it.
*T seems to want any toy that K has and likes to play right next to her.  She, of course, does not love this.
*He has crazy man strength when holding on to things he wants and sometimes it can take a surprising effort to get something away from him that he is not supposed to have.  He has strong legs too and is always kicking his legs around.

T is growing up every day and seems to do something new every week.  He is such a happy and handsome baby and it is a joy to watch him grow.  He has made our baby dreams come true.
