K's princess party

K's birthday was so much fun to celebrate.  She was giddy & excited over every little thing. Her birthday was on a Thursday this year, and it was a school day for her.  She asked me to make rainbow fruit snacks for her to bring in for her class.  After a little pinteresting, I found a cute snack bag filled with fresh strawberries, clementines, pineapple, kiwi, and red grapes that were in neat rows in the bag in rainbow color order.  I forgot to take a picture of the bags, but she was really happy with them and couldn't wait to pass them out at school.  Those snacks were some of her favorite things, fresh fruit & rainbows! She wore a birthday shirt all day, and was quick to say 'thank you' every time someone wished her happy birthday.  Her teacher made her a birthday crown, and a necklace with a '5' strung on a string that K wore proudly until bedtime that night.  She is so happy to f-i-n-a-l-l-y be five.

K chose to go to "McDonald's with a playplace" for her bday dinner on Friday, and then her party took place on Saturday.  What a weekend of fun we had celebrating Miss K!  Happy 5th birthday!

The morning of her birthday, we were both dressed for school.  She was so excited for the day. She insisted that her puppy be in the picture.
Back at home in the evening, K blew out a candle on our traditional Hostess cupcake after dinner. I've mentioned before that K doesn't really have a sweet tooth.  She wore that candy necklace for hours without nibbling on it.  T inhaled his in about .002 minutes.
Make a wish!
Monkey see, monkey do, you got a candle & I want one too!
Make a wish!
We saved most of her presents for Saturday, but she opened up this one on her birthday night.
She was pleased!  This is the first movie she attended earlier this year on a girls' day.
Friday night we filled her request with a 'McDonald's with a play place".  She's in the net at the top.
K debated heavily between a mermaid party and a princess party for her theme this year.  Just a couple weeks before the big day did she finally choose, legs won and she chose princess. (She loves princesses, she had a princess party last year too). We started the party with a little crown decorating. There were also clip-on earrings and plastic diamond rings to dress up with.
This silly monkey looked quite handsome in his crown.
We also had some princess art making going on with bingo dot markers.
K really likes breakfast foods, so her party food was very brunch-y.  The pink doughnuts were one of her favorites, as were the scrambled eggs.
Thoroughly enjoying her party.
Since I read a book at T's pirate party, I looked hard for a fun princess book to read at K's.  I settled on Do Princesses Wear Hiking Boots?  It's about a little girl who asks lots of questions about princesses, and the mom explains that princesses come in all shapes and sizes with different interests.  It's cute without being too preachy.
After the book, we played a round of Princess Uno.  Yep, there is such a thing, it comes with curse cards!  The curse card is used like a wild, and every player (except the one that put it down) has to draw cards from the pile until a certain color is picked.  It's a fun twist, but it made the game really long.  We liked seeing all of the Disney princesses on the cards while we were playing.
Papa helped T keep his cards in order.
N eventually won the game.  Well done!

K had a special birthday cake this year, but I'm writing a different post about it.  Stay tuned for pictures.
Being sung to & making a wish on a pink sparkly cupcake.
Beautiful birthday girl.
Then it was time for presents.  Our family spoils these kids rotten!
She got some really fun things that she will play with for a long time.
She even got a special gift flown all the way from CA from Auntie Sarah & Uncle Miguel!  Thank you everyone for thinking of K on her special day!

Baby J was had a lot of fun playing with these cars during the party.  He is such a cutie.
I got a thumbs-up from T about the party.  That's high praise around here.
