K:
*Chooses to read either No, David or 5 Little Monkeys Jumping On the Bed as her bedtime book almost every night. She knows both stories by heart and 'retells' No, David to herself very simply as she turns the pages. We also have little finger actions for 5 Little Monkeys that she reminds me to do. One of my goals is to get her on video doing them, it is so adorable!
*In the car when we're driving we play kids songs, usually a Wee Sing cd. K requests her favorite songs with few words. She says 'e-i-o' for Old McDonald, and 'night night' for 10 In the Bed. She asks for these songs over and over and over and over.
*She waves and says 'hi' for both hi and bye, and says 'hi' every time she leaves the room or walks down the hallway. She also checks in often for a 'hi' and a hug and kiss when she's playing.
*We've figured out to get her to eat some meat it needs to be served alone and not mixed in a dish. For example, she eats small pieces of steak vs. a chicken rice casserole. She would also choose pork chop over spaghetti with meat sauce. She continues to love fresh fruit, dried fruit and raw vegetables. Still no bread or pasta. This week she discovered Ranch dressing that she dipped lettuce leaves into. She mostly just sucked the Ranch off however. :)
*K started to go to Nursery, a class for children who are 18 months-3 years old at church on Sundays. She has done pretty well here, especially if one of my friends takes her instead of me for the drop off. She eats a snack in this class, plays with toys, has a small lesson, colors, and has singing time. Her favorite song here in Teach Me to Walk in the Light. That's our bedtime song too.
*She has been saying 'mine' A LOT. She knows what it means and has identified almost every toy at our house, and our friends' homes as 'mine'. We talk about sharing every day and after a reminder she usually does a good job of sharing.
*K continues to learn new words and signs everyday. She can sign 'play, home and berry'. She has put together a few 2 words sentences over the past week as well. While she is playing K chatters to herself and her baby doll and says Mom over and over. I love to hear it. We love you Kbug!
Here is K swinging at a recent playgroup with another K who is a good friend of ours. These two have a lot in common with their love of sparkly shoes and accessories.
This is K giving T a 'kiss'. She presses her forehead to his, it's too cute!
Occasionally, we need a timeout. K sits on the couch for 1-2 minutes and then we talk to her about what happened. She signs 'sorry' to us, and then we hug it out and move on.
K has begun to eat whole apples! She loves this treat and eats a surprising amount of each apple. We buy the lunchbox sized apples which is perfect for her small hands.
Can you spot the difference between this picture and the picture below?
Did you see it? T's left foot is raised and then lowered. He does this all day long when he's on his tummy. Must be strengthening his leg muscles for crawling!
Sleeping so peacefully with his blanket and bink.
This pic was bravely taken one afternoon, at night T wears a wearable blanket by Halo and a onesie to keep warm.
* He is really trying to pull himself up! He gets stuck on his feet so he's in a squatting position, but that doesn't keep him from trying. He gets a strong grasp on us or the cube he plays with and he goes for it.
* T is constantly chewing/biting/gnawing on anything he can put near his mouth. The drooling is constant thus he is still always wearing a bib.
* This week he has found his thumb! Several times we have seen him sucking on his thumb rather than his whole hand like he has been doing since we've known him. Upon encouragement from our friends, when we see him doing this we put his binky in. Although it is darling to see him thumb-sucking, I know it won't be cute when he's 7 and still doing it. So, binky it is for now.
* As far as food goes, this week was sweet potato week. He liked them, and loves to eat in the high chair. He gets very excited when we put him in there and he starts slapping his arms on the tray.
* T has begun to take an interest in books! He will sit in my lap and look at the pictures in the board books I show him. This makes his Mama very proud!
* Daddy taught T how to drink from a straw at S's birthday party! WooHoo! Both Daddy and son were pleased with themselves.
* When we start singing to T, he starts to 'sing' back. He loves the Hot Dog song from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, just like his sister. He grins so widely when he hears it.
* T continues to be a very happy and content baby. He loves to play on the floor, go for walks, and loves snuggles with just about anyone. We love you Mr. T!
This picture cracks me up! She's like, "Mom, c'mon! Do you really need to take more pictures of me?" Yes. I do.
So that's where we are now. T & K are amazing. They have simply completed our lives in every way. We love watching them play and learn. Speaking of, we've got some playing to do! Have a great week!
