Besides losing lots of teeth, lots has changed in the year for K. She is a first grader now, going to school all day long, and rockin' it. She goes to school in the morning with me, and is a joy in the wee hours of the morning. She gets her own breakfast to eat at school, cleans up herself, and has made a few friends with other teacher kids. They have the run of the school in the morning, and she is content to play or watch Peppa Pig on youtube. During the day, she is a hard worker in her classroom (which is right across the hallway from me), and when we see each other during the day, she flashes me an 'I love you' sign, or a quick wave. Her teacher loves her, and she loves her teacher. K is becoming a reader! She picks up new words every day, and really likes to reread stories to herself that we've worked on. At bedtime she offers to be the reader quite often, but still likes to be read to. She is becoming quick with math facts, and loves writing. K continues to love art. That's her favorite special at school. She will draw or paint almost every day. She likes to play school on my dry erase board at school, or draw big, detailed pictures on it. She has become a little teacher for T, and is really trying to help him with learn letters & sight words. She buys lunch at school twice a week, and packs the rest. Her favorite school lunches are pizza, pancakes, and chicken sandwiches.
K has been taking piano lessons since Jan of this year, and has really come along well. She practices without complaint, and likes it when we sit in the front room with her. She is patient with T most days as he likes to practice with her, and she shows him what she knows. He takes lessons too, they make quite a musical team! She chose not to play soccer this fall, but said she would play in the spring again. She says she wants to be a cheerleader, or take dance or gymnastics next year too.
K still likes to play outside, especially if T is out there. She has jumped for hours and hours on our trampoline, and learned how to cartwheel this summer from our next door neighbor. She draws with sidewalk chalk, plays ponies (Ticket & Scarlett are still the swings), and runs around with T. When we go to parks, or public places, K continues to make a friend wherever we go. She is happy, kind & polite.
K is wanting to be more and more independent every day. She is a great big sister to T, although they bicker and fight like all siblings. She loves to help in the kitchen, or with other household jobs. She likes to play on the ipad, and likes to watch tv too. She is learning to sew from my mom, and LOVES anything crafty. Paint, glue, how to directions? She's in.
Happy Birthday Miss K! You are my favorite girl in the whole world. You are beautiful, you are smart, you are generous, you are kind, and you are mine. You are my daughter, and I am so very proud of you!
