Cooking with K & T

K & T LOVE to help in the kitchen.   They drag our kitchen chairs to the island frequently to assist, and get down right giddy when they are helping. I've taken a few pictures of their recent kitchen adventures and hope they that will always love to help.

Pizza Rolls- a family classic
Cousin B & Aunt Sarah brought the goods for pizza rolls over one evening a few weeks ago.  Pizza rolls are basically a calzone, Andy's family has been eating them for years.  The dough is freezer bread dough that has been defrosted.
After rolling out the dough, Italian spices are sprinkled...
and toppings are added, including lots of cheese!
Love their little open mouths while they are working.
CHEESE!
Next roll up the dough, and bake at 425 for 20 mins.
Cut pizza roll into slices and dip into ranch dressing or pizza sauce.  Eating handfuls of extra cheese is optional.
Doing a little pepperoni taste testing for round two.
The pizza crew.
Trying to roll out the dough.
Dressing up and playing while round two roll is cooking.
Dinner is served!
Thanks for helping K & T!

Another quick meal for a weeknight are classic crescent roll hotdogs.  Both K & T like hot dogs, but we found that they will eat/try almost anything if they've had a hand in making it.

K is helping to squish out the crescents while T chose to sample a cold hotdog.  Yuck.
Everyone wants in on the rolling action.
Happy Helpers!
We made a quick Christmas treat for our neighbors, and of course K & T were ready to help.  First we laid out the pretzels on a tray.
Next, K & T unwrapped Hershey Hugs and put one on each pretzel.
Bake at 150 for about 10 mins until Hugs soften.  Top each pretzel with a peanut M& M.  Cool tray in fridge until chocolate is firm.
"Mom, can I try this?"
These are amazingly simple meals, that we always balance with veggies and fruit.  K is a terrific eater, and T is getting there.  :)  Working together in the kitchen is one of our favorite things to do!
