8 is GREAT!

Oh my 8.  We have been counting down for K to be 8 for so long!  It's such a magical number for her.  Most importantly, she is choosing to be baptized, her first big step in her relationship with Jesus Christ.  She has been really looking forward to it, but admitted late tonight that she was a bit nervous about going all the under the water.  Andy assured her that he will be there to help her, and all will be well.

K is in second grade this year and has another amazing teacher.  K and T both come to school with me in the mornings, and K is great about getting ready on her own and even starting breakfast for herself while T and I are finishing up.  At school she plays happily with T and the other teachers' kids, or jumps onto a computer in my room and watches Cookie Swirl C videos on youtube.

During school K is a superstar her teacher reports.  She is a good listener, a helper to others and does well at her work.  She likes reading, scores well in math too and LOVES art.  K is super creative and crafty, and 'quiet time', the 10 mins after her class comes in from recess and they work quietly on projects is her favorite time of day. K continues to easily make friends wherever she is, and has several good friends at school.

After school K likes to play outside with T if we don't have to be anywhere, they play basketball, jump on the trampoline or dig up rocks and treasures in the yard. She is content to play with her baby doll inside, or work puzzles or create something from paper.  She usually completes her homework without complaint and practices piano almost every day too. This fall she took a break from gymnastics to play on a soccer team with T, it was a fun season.

Just this week K attended Activity Day Girls at our church for the first time, and came home beaming that she learned to use a glue gun by herself on her thankful pumpkin.  This girl loves crafts!

K continues to want to be more and more independent every day.  She is a great big sister to T, and we are working on the bickering and tattling that naturally occurs. K is always up for doing chores by helping in the kitchen or cleaning up.  She actually likes to help fold laundry and put things away.  She will chat, and chat and chat while we are working, she's a Momma's dream come true!

Happy Birthday Miss K!  You are my favorite girl in the whole world.  You are beautiful, you are smart, you are generous, you are kind, and you are mine.  You are my daughter, and I am so very proud of you!  These pictures were taken earlier this month.

I snapped the following pictures in preparing invitations for her baptism.  She is dressed in my little sister's baptism dress from years ago, made from my wedding dress fabric!  K loves the dress, but especially that we curled her hair for the first time.  She is growing her hair out to donate it, all her idea!

In our birthday tradition, I interviewed K using the most of the same questions I asked T last month. From the mouth of our beloved little girl, here's K's eighth birthday interview.
