K & T played on their first teeball team this summer, they were the Sharks. It was an interesting experience for us all. I have always loved baseball, grew up listening to Reds' games with my family on the radio. I cheered for littlest brother at many ball games, and honestly, couldn't wait to watch my kids play.
I was glad that K & T could be on the same team this year, it makes scheduling easier for sure. They were both excited to try baseball, and were excited about getting gloves and cleats to play. Practices started in late March, and games in April. K found it easy to follow directions, and learned the rules quickly, T proved to be a good player too. He's got a great swing. The downtime when he wasn't directly involved with a play or batting was harder for him. He found that sometimes he liked to kick/play/throw dirt at others, loved looking for sticks behind the fences and always wanted to be the pitcher. We also had a coaching change in the middle of the season which was odd and didn't help T find his love for the game. Nevertheless, we attended every practice and game, and cheered for the Sharks, and of course, K & T. Looking back at the season, it was really neat to watch the kids learn something new. They learned a few of the rules of the game, learned to be part of a team, and learned that we keep going even when things seem hard. Now that T is playing soccer, I see that for now, that's a better sport for him. He loves to run and run and run, plays a majority of each game, and is much happier. Plus, there's still treats at the end of every game. That's his fave.
