last day of school

I took a personal day off so that I could take the kids to their last day of preschool, and watch T's classroom program in late May.  We were all full of mixed emotions about the last day for the kids.  I can't believe how quickly the year went by, and how much each learned.  K loved everything about school; her teachers, her friends, learning, songs, books, routines, and especially the art center.  T took awhile to warm up to school, but he learned the routine and expectations after a few weeks.  He loved the songs, the science and block centers, the sensory table, his teachers and he especially loved recess.  Both K & T went to school happily this year, taking turns using the key fob to get in the door.  They really liked when it was their time to bring snacks, and they loved the field trips they went on.  Here's to a great school year!

After singing a few songs, each child was called up to get a certificate from Mrs. Williams, T's teacher.  They also gave Mrs. Williams & Mrs. Hines a big hug.  This picture brings tears to my eyes each time I look at it.  I can tell from the giant bear hug that T is giving, how much he loves his teacher, and how much she loves him back.  We will certainly miss her.

After lunch at home, we changed clothes and drove to the zoo, our favorite place.  We didn't see everything since our time was limited, but each kid chose something that they wanted us to see.  It was a quick trip, and a huge tease for summer!

The zoo's flowers are always amazing, and K always looks pretty.  She is loving her longer hair (expect everyday when we need to comb, brush or put conditioner in it),

Of course we started with our lovely lady elephants.  They are a must on our list.

Hello giraffes, K chose to see you today!

The flamingos were out!  They go inside in the winter, so we know summer is on the way when they are living outside.

T chose to see the lions.  John, the Daddy lion was out cold in an afternoon nap.

the train!  We really try to get this in as much as possible.  It's funny to hear K narrate the whole ride and tell me what animals are coming up next.

We had a few extra minutes, so we stopped into the reptile house.  It's usually really crowded, but today there were just a few people in there.  T is into snakes recently.  He has memorized a bunch of trivia about them.

A man and his daughter were standing next to T just a couple of minutes before I took this picture.  T pointed to one of the snakes and randomly said to the man, "Did you know that that snake is a carnivore?"  The man said no he didn't, and told T smart he was.  T beamed.  

At last we reached the icee stand where we celebrated the last day of school, and a fun zoo trip with giant icees.  Bring on Summer!
